I do....well maybe i don't

While sometimes I'm afraid that I will never get married, here I am studying Family Law which talks about the shift in cultural thinking that marriage is no longer an expected part of life, rather it is a lifestyle choice. (as suggested by Barlow et al. (2005: 49))

Alot of rather interesting facts and opinions when it comes to the idea of marriage. There is no single definition of it. Is marriage a monogamy or can it be a polygamy affair. Different religions allow different things.

Co-habitation is becoming more and more popular, you can co-habit but not get married and have children. But then again, their legal rights are not the same as those who gets married. people co-habit for a whole lot of reasons, then again people get married for a whole other reasons as well.

The bible, Christianity's point of view is called the more conservative approach. There is pressure to allow cohabitation and civil partnerships the same rights as married couples, or worst, include these kind of relationship into the definition of marriage.

What have we become....I still for the more conservative approach, i have my reasons but i'm not going to start a debate here. It's just interesting to see the different viewpoints one has for this thing called 'marriage'.

okay back to my books...

Smacked!!

You know one of those days when God just smacks you in the face and evrything you read during your quiet time just smacks at you!

well today is my day. I'm just going to post the stuff that I read that God smacked right into my head, brain and into my heart - it was all the way man, every word and sentence, every line.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek His will in all you do,
and He will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I've heard this verse a gazillion times, but today it appeared as though it was in bold letters jst for me. My future, my career, whether to come back nxt year, whether to apply for job for scholarship, my fears, my worries, my life partner issues my everything, He told me to trust Him and lean not on my own understanding of the situations that I'm in, instead seek His will, pray pray and pray until He shows me which path to take, and He promises me that He will show me.

***************************
ODJ passage on Proverbs 10:1-9, written by Poh Fang Chia
(bold letters and numbering editted by Esther Wee)

HECTIC SLUGGARD

"Lazy? Not me. I'm busy. Up early, up late. My schedule is filled from beginning to end. I love what I do and I love getting stuff done. I attack a daily to-do-list with the same intensity I play basketball."

I couldn't identify more with these words written by Christian blogger C.J. Mahaney. It's great to keep busy and accomplish stuff, isn't it?

If we grasp what true diligence is all about as presented in Proverbs, however, wemay discover that we are simply being hectic sluggards. Here's why. Proverbs 10:5 describes the diligent person as busy and wise. In other words, a diligent person uses both his brawn and brain. He

1) analyses his situation and
2) makes wise decisions in his labor.
3) He knows how to act and speak in different situations.
4) He doesn't back down from challenges, but seeks to navigate around or through them with God's help.
5) he knows that wisdom doesn't imply superior IQ. It is found in a healthy fear of the Lord. (Proverbs 9:10)

A diligent person also works in anticipation of the harvest. She

1) has a clear goal to accomplish and
2) applies appropriate action at the right time by harvesting in summer.
3) recognises that busyness does not make us immune from laziness.

People can be busy and still not accomplish anything of true value. They can be busy, but with doing the wrong things and at the wrong time. And the things that they should be doing are left undone.

Diligence flows from analysis, anticipation, appropriate action, and accomplishment - all prompted by the Holy Spirit's active work within us. When considering our schedules, let's pursue priorities and projects that are derived from God's wise plans. Tobe diligent for God does not mean simply being busy.

*************************

Questions to ponder by ODJ:
What is keeping you busy? How should you reorder your schedule this week to glorify God even more?

************************

These passages indeed was a wake up call for me. I have been both a hectic sluggard and a lazy day dreamer! Worrying about the unnecessary, and not really sure where I'm heading to. I prayed for motivation and God provided me with it! So yes from today onwards, I will reorder my schedule and priority to glorify Him and have clear goals to accomplish at the end of next summer. Graduation here i come, with flying colours to honour His name.

If you are in the same situation as I am, I hope this passage has helped you, just as how it helped me realise.

God bless.

Yay!

His blessing!

A wonderful group of members for my entrepreneur module! Just like what I prayed for - a good blend of experts and a hardworking bunch. One of them even signed our team up for some regional entrepreneur competition with other Universities! I'm just finding ways I can contribute, coming
from a pure law background and nothing on business. But the plus point is I study and specialise in Intellectual Property, which is a crucial aspect as well in setting up a business.

My hardrive was giving me problems, and i remembered one of my housemate is doing IT for his degree and got him to help, turns out that he has way mroe experience than I thought, he worked in an IT company before, was made redundant and decided to continue his degree. So now, my computer problems are all being solved and he volunteered to help me download the latest softwares and programmes from Dell. Hooray

And also i was looking to apply for jobs in a law firm, and he said that his aunt is a well known Family lawyer in London! So he might help me get her contacts and see how it goes from there. I pray for open doors, so we shall see how it's gona go. :)

I wanted a guitar..desperate for one, and my good friend Nigel has one sitting in his room collecting dust! so he is letting me have it for now to put it to good use! and it comes with a tuner as well. (thks boss) Yay!

Getting my rice cooker from Isaac next week! Apparently he is not using it anymore, so i can have it. Timely.

Found someone who plays the guitar to help me record my songs! hopefully that works out well.

Thank you Papa, you really know what I need.

I see double

My new inspiration, are these twin girls!

This is not exactly their best but i like the lyrics of the song

Our heart our desire
Is to see the nations worship
Our cry our prayer
Is to sing your praise
to the ends of the earth

That with one mighty voice
Every tribe and tongue rejoices
Our heart our desire
Is to see the nations worship you

It really reminded me of the passion that I have for Malaysia, here now, when i'm halfway across the globe from my home.

This song is by starfield - unashamed

The first song they ever wrote.

An inspiration both from a spiritual point of view, and of course from a vocal point :)

The Lord is the Lord of all, and everywhere....I have come to grasp with that fact everyday when I'm here.
